JEDE*RFRAU
… is a young cultural initiative from Salzburg, which was founded in 2024 and whose members set themselves up to campaign for more diversity and gender equality in the cultural scene. We are asking: which structural obstacles make it more difficult for women and female-identifying persons to present their art? Why do we see much fewer mothers, women of colour or women in their middle years on stage? Which fascinating contributions and artistic perspectives do we miss if we do not dismantle these structural barriers?
These are the questions which we want to tackle. JEDE*RFRAU acts as a networking platform on the one hand and as the organiser of an annual festival, which will take place at the end of September in Salzburg on the other. The name is a play on the famous and prominently visible “Jedermann” play by Hugo von Hofmannsthal, performed each year at the prestigious Salzburg Festival.
